A Rare Opportunity to Help Design the Future of Mental Health Care

Cowichan District Hospital is preparing to open a brand-new hospital in 2027. The new facility will include expanded psychiatric services featuring:

• A dedicated Psychiatric Emergency Zone embedded within the Emergency Department
  
• A Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
  
• A 20-bed inpatient psychiatry unit
  
• Enhanced integration between hospital and community-based mental health services
  
  

Incoming psychiatrists will have the opportunity to contribute to the development, growth and innovation of psychiatric services within a modern, state-of-the-art healthcare campus.

Qualifications

Applicants must:

• Be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of British Columbia (CPSBC)
  
• Hold FRCPC certification or be FRCPC eligible in Psychiatry
  
• Demonstrate experience or interest in collaborative multidisciplinary care
  
  

Additional experience in geriatric psychiatry, leadership, teaching or program development is considered an asset.
